St Marcs School

St. Marc’s Episcopal School in Jeannette, Haiti, is more than a set of classrooms—it is a community where children grow in wisdom, resilience, and faith. The school currently serves four levels with multiple classes of students, beginning with kindergarten and continuing through the highschool, laying the foundation for a lifetime of learning.

Each day, children arrive eager to learn from dedicated teachers who are supported by families, parish leaders, and our wider partnership. St. Marc’s is not just an institution; it is a shared effort of love, sacrifice, and hope for Haiti’s future.

Where it started

St. Marc’s story goes back decades. The Historic Diocese of Milwaukee (now part of the reunified Diocese of Wisconsin) was among the first to support the school, funding what was then a single classroom . That early investment has blossomed into the four levels, each with multiple classes serving Jeannette’s children (Pre-K-Grade 13) today that continue to receive high regional marks—a testament to how seeds of generosity grow into lasting change.

Our Partnership’s Heart

St. Marc’s School is both the roots and the core of our Haiti Partnership. It embodies our belief that education is the most powerful gift we can share, creating ripple effects across generations. Every classroom filled with students, every graduation celebrated, and every new opportunity embraced is a sign of hope—hope that together, we can help nurture leaders who will sustain and strengthen Jeannette for years to come.

Already, the school has produced doctors, agronomists and more; some of whom have returned to support Jeanette or its surrounding regions.

New Update

New Update

As the 2025–2026 school year begins, St. Marc’s steps into a new chapter. Thanks to a grant from the Episcopal Diocese of Wisconsin, APSHA secured Starlink internet access for the school, along with four new solar batteries to ensure reliable power.

This transformation means students and teachers can:

  • Access research and digital learning resources.

  • Participate in real-time video meetings with partner churches, youth groups, and classrooms abroad.

  • Strengthen long-standing relationships and build new ones through shared conversations, supported by interpreters.

Pére Moïse, priest-in-charge of St. Marc Parish, has expressed his joy and excitement for the doors this technology will open.

  • In Haiti, the school year typically runs from late September/early October through late June to mid-July, with a national examines in late July. Summer break in August.

For St. Marcs School in Jeannette:

    • Classes begin each year on October 1.

    • The year ends in late June, usually followed by end-of-year celebrations like the kindergarten graduation in July.

    • August and September are reserved for summer break and preparation for the new term.

  • Enrollment fluctuates slightly each year, but the school consistently serves four levels with over 400 students. Each level contains multiple classes of children:

    • Pre-School

    • Elementary

    • Intermediate

    • High School (which runs through Philo/ Grade 13, which we do not have in the USA)

  • Graduates of St. Marcs have gone on to become nurses, doctors, agronomists, teachers, and respected community leaders—with some even returning to Jeannette to give back. The school not only educates children but also creates long-term education as parents of earlier generations are able to read to their children who are now in St. Marcs.

  • Your support makes this possible. Gifts to the Haiti Partnership ensure that:

    • Teachers are paid a fair wage.

    • Students have books, supplies, and safe learning spaces.

    • The school can continue to grow, innovate, and serve more children.

Together, we are co-creating a future of hope, resilience, and joy at St. Marcs.
